A 21-year-old man jumped to his death from the rooftop patio of a hotel onto the Venice Beach boardwalk yesterday morning, according to police.
Speaking to this blog today, Watch Sgt. Kevin Lowe of LAPD’s Venice Division says police found a suicide note in the young man’s room and subsequently determined that “no crime was committed.”
A dozen or more visitors to the boardwalk witnessed the man jump from the four-story building, and a handful huddled around his lifeless body, feeling his pulse and hoping to revive him. Police say the impact of the fall killed him instantly.
Both the identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown.
